About the Leather: Tochigi Vegetable-Tanned Nume Leather
Crafted from pit-tanned Nume leather, this material lets you fully appreciate the natural, raw character of the hide. Pit tanning is a traditional, time-honored method where hides are slowly tanned using natural plant tannins.
Suspended in vats (pits) filled with tanning liquor, the leather is meticulously processed over several weeks to months. Though highly labor-intensive, this patient craftsmanship results in incredibly durable, resilient leather that develops a rich, distinct character with use. It is a material truly made to be aged and cherished over time.
